Time to get your gear sorted. Although there is never a bad time to travel across America spring will be here soon which is actually the ideal time to travel the Western half of the route if you would like to avoid extreme heat. However the eastern half is usually fairly cool into May. But keep in mind Southern California enjoys nominal weather all year round. Historic 66 has undergone several improvements over the past few years and a few iconic landmarks have changed hands. I for one look forward to revisiting rediscovering the Mother Road again this summer. I'll see you on the American Highway

Hello- I work at the Tourism Bureau in central Missouri and would love to help you and your groups to get to know our sections of Route 66; some from the 20's, 30's and 40's! On your sample itinerary of Day 5, those attractions are in Pulaski County-towns of Devils Elbow, St. Robert, Waynesville. Please contact me and let me host you in our area.
